Important Pre-TAB Inspection Checklist

Before scheduling a certified airflow balancing crew, general mechanical contractors should verify that the building systems conform to the following conditions, preventing costly re-testing delays:

  • All HVAC system components (chillers, boilers, pumps, and fans) are fully installed and wired with active building power.
  • All balancing, volume, and fire dampers are installed and locked in their open configurations.
  • A complete set of new air filters is installed in all air handling and terminal filtration units.
  • All interior and exterior doors, windows, and ceiling tiles are installed to allow the building envelope to seal.
  • The duct system is clear of construction debris, dry-wall dust, and temporary plastic covers.

Drawing Requirements for Mechanical Balancing Proposals

To expedite the quotation process, our engineering team requires complete mechanical drawing packages (M-pages) for your building project. These documents allow us to calculate target airflow volumes, identify damper locations, and schedule technician hours. When submitting files, please verify that your drawing package includes the following schedules and plans:

If your project is a renovation where drawings are unavailable, our team can perform on-site measurements to map the existing duct paths. Please outline the lack of blueprints in your form notes so our scheduling desk can coordinate a preliminary site visit.
